Volunteering as a special form of Student social activity
On November 25, 2020, the International Round table was held on the topic “Young public figure; problems and opportunities” – “Volunteering as a special form of Student social activity”, organized on the initiative of universities: Pedagogical University of Krakow, Baishev University, with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland to the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event was held as part of the celebration of The year of the volunteer in Kazakhstan. The round table was held remotely via the Google Meet platform with the participation of partner universities from Poland and Uzbekistan.
Moderators, candidate of philological sciences, associate professor Zhaiyk Sultan (Baishev University) and PhD in Social Sciences Mateusz Kamionka (Pedagogical University of Krakow), introduced the guests of the round table and gave an opening speech to the rector of Baishev University Bauyrzhan Tashmukhambetov. The speech was continued by the Vice-Rector for cooperation and development of the Pedagogical University of Krakow, Professor Alicia Panasiewicz, and the Deputy Director for science at the Institute of political and administrative Science of the Pedagogical University of Krakow, PhD Joanna Podgorska-Rykala.
Doctor of Philology, Professor Bibigul Kusanova, MSc, senior lecturer of the Department of foreign languages and literature Raikhan Zholmurzayeva and MSc in Economics, Head of the international relations and academic mobility department Zhanat Yerniyazova shared their experience in volunteering at Baishev University and in Kazakhstan. Then the moderators gave the floor to students of Kazakh and Polish universities. Students shared their experience and vision of volunteering and social activities. Nurzada Atamuratova, a doctoral student of the Department of Economics of Berdakha Karakalpak State University, also made a guest appearance.
The meeting participants joined a wide circle of scientists, youth NGOs from these countries and to obtain information on best practices of the development of students’ social movement at the local level, at the level of states as a whole.
Speakers introduced participants to the experience of implementing programs and national projects of volunteer activities in the field of environmental protection, providing mutual assistance and support to people from socially vulnerable groups or communities, and implementing effective start-up technologies that contribute to the development of the economy.
Students and lectures of participating universities took part in a discussion about existing barriers and areas of state support for youth public organizations in various countries, shared their experience, and made contacts on discussion issues for further cooperation.
Baishev University and Krakow pedagogical University have been cooperating since 2016. during these years, conferences and various educational and scientific events were held, including teaching and staff exchange within the Erasmus+ program
